In Nashik, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) gathered over 200,000 Ganapati idols donated by devotees during the Ganapati immersion on Anant Chaturdashi. Additionally, NMC collected 177 tonnes of puja waste to prevent river pollution. NMC encouraged eco-friendly immersion and urged devotees to donate idols rather than immerse them in the Godavari river. With 80 locations in the city for the idol immersion, including natural spots along the Godavari and other rivers, as well as artificial ponds, devotees could perform the ritual before donating idols to NMC. This year, NMC collected 5,000 more idols than last year, totaling 79,000 idols in the Panchavati division and 45,000 in the Nashik Road division, with the rest from Nashik East, Nashik West, Satpur, and Cidco divisions. Staff and volunteers were stationed at immersion spots to collect idols and puja waste, totaling 177 tonnes, an 18% increase from the previous year.
